Well we've gone and done it. We had a developers meeting last night, and this story will go over what we've got planned. Thanks to Driph for making a log of the meeting.

Ok, so here is a list of what everyone is going to work on, tentatively, and what we need people to work on. For those of you on the scoop-dev list, this is pretty much cut/paste from there.
- Rusty:
- Static page polishing
- Document the caching code
- Author story edit and "Edit" voting
- Flexible RDF / Custom Front page
- Themes
- Andrew (hurstdog):
- Scoop Ad server
- XML DTD for database, and database import export scripts that use that xml dtd (for easy portability)
- Box/Block delete
- Friends list
- Email alerts -- comments
- Mail story
- Multiple groups, more permission granularity (maybe)
- Keith (panner):
- Boxtool
- Scoop Box Exchange
- SAG
- Cookie Timeout preference
- Admin actions logging
- Captain Tenille
- TODO: (Don't know who, but necessary for 1.0 release)
- "Plain Text" story posting mode
- Mixed pseudo-html story/comment posting mode
- Fix searching (diary searching broken, and story searching is weak)
- Open for whoever wants them, not necessary for 1.0
- Installer kickstart files, maybe 2 modes as well?
- "Help" install version, that adds links all over new install to the guide.
- Ponderables
- Convert all fetchrow_hashref's to fetchall_arrayref calls?
- XML-RPC posting/reading (http://plant.blogger.com/api/)
- How should messaging work?
- Comment paging ala slashdot style?
- SQL abstraction or Global SQL security/compliance checks?
- "Whole ball 'o' Wax Scoop Distribution" - One big tarball, with a makefile, that installs apache/mod_perl, mysql, perl, and scoop for you.
So thats what we have planned, if you feel like working on one of these projects, post below. Preferably take one that hasn't been assigned yet, but if you really feel the need to work on something listed under mine, rusty's, or panner's name, mail scoop-dev, and we'll probably give it up pretty easily ;-)
By the way, this is not a Set In Stone list of what we're doing. Stuff will get added/deleted from these lists over time. And there is no guarantee when any of these will be done, unless you feel like "sponsering" one of us ;). |
