Hi, I just discovered Scoop today, and I wonder why you (developpers of Scoop) didn't choose to use a Perl Template module (like HTML::Template) to implement them.

Is it for performances concerns ? I personnally used this module for one of my projects and found it really usefull and powerful.
You could then map Vars to HTML::Template variables and Boxes to HTML::Template objects.
HTML::Template features loops, inner-loops and variables in an elegant and efficient way !!

i haven't been on scoop that long. but i've definitely seen this question before, and rusty's answer.

actually, rusty has a comment explicity about HTML::Template.

btw. if your sold on templates, consider using Template Toolkit, its a much faster, more mature, flexible, and attractive alternative to HTML::Template.
