In the very beginning I was hosting the site myself via my cable modem connection. Things were going well until the site gained a little momentum which caused my poor little cable router to start misfiring packets and causing many many problems. A few firmware upgrades later the router was finally happy with the traffic it was getting and was able to handle everything quite well.
Shortly after the router was happy the world was plagued by a little worm known as the Code Red Virus. In order to stop the spread of the virus my cable provider started blocking all incoming connections to hosts on their network. Of course since I'm a host on their network all traffic to InTune was thus blocked. They haven't re-opened the ports since.
"Fine", I thought, "I'll just setup a machine here at my office and host it here." That turned out to be the best idea I've had yet. I was able to get my workstation here at work setup with apache, mod_perl, mysql, scoop and all the necessary bits and pieces. After a day or two all InTune traffic was being directed successfully to my workstation here. Things were good, and I thought this was going to be more or less a permanent solution. Guess what! I was wrong. About a month and a half later 2 airplanes managed to slam into the World Trade Center buildings. Unfortunatly for me our ISP here at work has several key routers that were affected by the attacks downtown (my office is further uptown). In fact, our link from them is still down as we speak. I would wait for our service to be restored, but we've since cancelled our contract and we only have a limited number of IPs w/our new provider.
So, I come to you with a plea. Does anyone know of any way I can get InTune back up to at least a semi-permanent status? I've looked into AlterCom, but their prices are a little too steep for me, and ScoopHosting now seems to be defunct. I need something as close to nothing (or nothing at all) cost wise as possible. I'd be more than willing to exchange a "sponsored by" or "hosted by" banner for anyone one willing to provide hosting.
If anyone can help or provide any pointers, assistance or help please contact me either through comments here or via email to chris at console dot org.
Thank you.
