Going beyond "Read Message" management, is a more Usenet reader interface option possible for scoop sites? With collapsable, watched and ignored threads; killfiles; auto interest filters based on voting histories...

Making an NNTP interface to scoop. Making it read only wouldn't be too hard, there would be a few issues with posting (do you make people authenticate, what do you do with From: headers etc..)

Another thing, do you have a single newsgroup, groups divided by section, by topic?
