Part of growing a community is giving the users the ability to learn more about the members of said community. I have a couple of very simple requests that I think would make it easier to learn about the members.

Oftentimes I am very interested in learning more about a user who posts a story, but clicking on their name links directly to their listing of stories posted, NOT their user info. An insanely simple request: could you include a link to the User Info page right next to the user's name in a story posting (where it says, "By soandso" you could add: " | (User Info)" with a link to their User Info Page.
Additionally, I often find myself interested in when a user joined. If nothing else, it would be great if you could show their userid next to the link to User Info, like /. Furthermore, showing the date they signed up in their user info page would rock too. I'd like to know who the other old farts around here are. :-)

It would be cool to see a count of how many total users there are... reports like that / how many folks visited today / ratio of lurkers to active posters, etc.... all very neat stuff.

Hehe, I guess part of me wants to be a manager and look at reports with pretty multi-colored graphs. :-) (Just a small part.)

When you are taken to the search page, you can change search for Authors to search for Users and get to their user info page. I know that isn't nearly as easy or straightforward, but it's better than nothing.

Definitely would be great to have a 'date of join' field in the users table. I would like to use that in a few customizations I am doing to scoop.

I hacked some scoop codes to get the first part of your request a long time ago, as a response to the User details link in story/diary heading.

The trick and the patch file to do the trick can be found at my comment to this above mentioned thread. To apply the patch, download the path file (try "save link/target as" if the browser doesn't display the file properly) and do a patch.
