Disclosed Information: Not Exactly News

At http://www.disclosed.org, we've been hard at work trying to create a safe haven for Slashdot refugees who have noticed thier harsh decline over the past year or two. (Is Slashdot a cuss word here?). We have a lively staff of about 4 or 5 people, depending on what you count as a person. Please read more.

We make an active attempt not to post anything posted from Slashdot until we have a larger user base and can purchase Andover.net. The site is a combination of normal news weblog leeches from other sites and features/reviews written by our staff/users. We take pride in our technological enthusiasm and our biting sense of humor. Current topics include but are not limited to: Linux, Hardware, Games, Music, Books, The Internet, and the infamous "Not Exactly News". We (i) chose to use scoop because I would like the site to be self-sufficient( Read the Manifesto ).

We are currently looking for users to add to the database.. we, at the moment, have about 50 regulars, and a nice handful of irregulars. If you feel a void in your life, need not apply, just drop by.

gotta ask (none / 0) (#1)
by enterfornone on Thu Dec 07, 2000 at 12:31:38 AM PST

How is this different from all the other weblogs out there? There are so many of them, most with only a handful of users. The main reason I keep coming back to k5 is the fact that it is large enough to carry on decent discussions (with out being so big that it becomes /.)

Some feedback (none / 0) (#2)

1) Please remove the JavaScript scroller in the status bar. The human eye has increased awareness at the edges of its perception, thus, any movement there can be extremely annoying and will keep users from reading the articles.

2) Where is the "posted on" date/time?

3) The article body for longer articles isn't inside the intro table, and it uses the browser's default font, not Verdana.

4) The dash at the end of each article intro is annoying.

Last, if anyone has the code snippet that was posted on the old scoop.k5 to replace "Read more" with "Add a comment" if a story doesn't have an extended body and no comments, please let me know.
