A change of mind Feature Requests

I'm not very familiar with scoop, so apologies ahead of time if this feature request happens to already exist or has been previously discussed. What I would like is the ability to change one's votes/ratings.

Discussion is valuable in gaining, processing, and incorporating new views/ideas/information. So why should voting/rating be a one-time deal? Take for example a comment that you rate low, maybe because you're in a bad mood or because you misread part of it. Or maybe a poll question that you answered without thinking, only to realize that you misrepresented yourself.

I suppose the current system encourages people to thoughtfully consider how they rate before they do, but would giving more freedom to express a changed opinion be all that bad? After all, if you can't change your mind, are you sure you really have one?

poll options (none / 0) (#1)

Er, there should probably be a "I don't regret moderating the way I do, but it's a nice feature to have" option in the poll. Certainly one does not have to be a complete scatterbrain like me just to vote in favor of this feature. :^)

Rating comments (3.00 / 1) (#2)

You can change the rating you give for comments. When you rate, and the page reloads or refreshes, your intitial rating will be presented in the drop down (where it originally said (none)). To change it, just select a different number and hit Rate All again and your new choice will be reflected (it will not be a new vote, it will just update your first vote).

As for changing votes, i have wanted several times to change my vote after reading more comments (i generally lurk around here all day at work, so i generally vote and comment before many other comments are posted), but i can see the reasoning behind not being able to change your vote. Maybe if the ability to change your vote was added then the ability to see who voted how should be removed, that way people wouldn't be tempted to change their vote to be on the same side as others.

for story moderation (none / 0) (#3)

This would be great. I usually vote stuff down if it's in the wrong section or has lots of typos etc. Occasionally stories will get resectioned, typos fixed etc. It would be good to be able to change your vote afterwards..
