Slash breaks Scoop, Scoop breaks Slash Docs

So, without wondering extensively if it will even work, I decide to create a single install with slashcode running in the rootdir, and scoop as location-based install under http://www.mystupidserver.com/scoop. However, if I include scoop first, slash won't run. If I include slash first, scoop won't run. I had assumed (perhaps naively) that by running scoop in a subdir, it shouldn't interfere with slash and vice versa. Can this be done? If not, can I run them together using virtual hosts (www.mystupidserver.com, and scoop.mystupidserver.com....and a little help there, as well)? Or should I just abandon this silly notion, and build two separate machines to serve?

We did this. (none / 0) (#1)
by Vladinator on Tue Aug 12, 2003 at 09:23:14 AM PST

But, performance was a serious issue. We had to setup a different apache for slash and scoop, and using a proxy in front of scoop caused some rather unexpected yet serious problems for slash. Ultimately, in the interests of performance, we setup a second server and moved all slash hosting to that box. Some time after that, we consolidated our MySQL to just the scoop box (we had 2 mysql's running before that).

Talk to Captain_Tenille and hillct - they were the wizards in charge at that time. They got all of that setup and working.

I managed to install scoop and hade no problem. With virtual host, scoop.mystupidserver.com you can point to wherever you want, andother directory or another machine.
