Putting more text onto templates Feature Requests

I'm configuring (locally) a Scoop site that is not going to use english for the web interface (Spanish) but I'm finding that I can't translate all strings without touching the code under /lib, mainly the user preferences and the comments toolbar.

I wouldn't be an issue if I could just upload my own version of scoop but because I'm planning to host the site on one of the 'cheap' options at X-lan that runs on a shared Scoop 0.8.1 this is a problem. So here is my feature request: Could you put all translatable strings on Blocks or Vars, please? (there aren't much out of them currently anyway).

Thanks.

Here would be my suggestion to you if you wanted to move text into blocks.
  1. Somehow get recent CVS code.  Unfortunately 0.8.1 is probably going to be too old for patches to be useful -- perhaps try to convince your ISP to move to something more recent or install a test version on your local machine.
  2. Locate the existing text that you want to change.
  3. Create a block that contains the same information as (2).
  4. Change the code to call the new block instead of displaying the hardcoded text.
  5. Put together a bunch of these, and submit a patch file to panner.
  6. Convice your ISP to upgrade to the patched code.
  7. Change the block text to whatever you like.
Hmm... I didn't say it would be easy, did I?  But it is possible, and it is a goal of scoop to move towards language independance.  Any help would be appreciated... and we are moving in that direction.

scoop in Spanish (none / 0) (#3)

Hello, i just made an account here on scoop.kuro5hin.org. I was also thinking on implmenting a scoop message board for use with spanish language only, i was wondering how much of the system you have already translated? In my case, i don't need any english part at all so i would not mind overwritting all english words if needed.

I was thinking if somehow we could coordinate our efforts?, i was about to start translating it all before i came here and saw your post.
