Good Luck (none / 0) (#1)

I tried to install on my webhost. When I upgraded to a new host recently, I tried again. Not only did I ssh in and try, but I asked their tech support for assistance doing this. The furthest I got was my web host telling me to upload the tarball and they'd help.

The final response?

"Unfortunately, we can't install this without affecting everyone on your server. That can only be done on a dedicated server. But, hey, this Scoop thing looks pretty cool."

Your best bet is to go with one of the three or four known Scoop hosters - Hostnix, Xlan, Altercom, Logjamming... there are others. Sorry to those I forgot. The big plus is that they can provide SUPPORT.

Just set this guy up the other day: www.youngmath.net/concerns.

CHEAP PLUG: If you go with xlan - I'll get you all set up. I install your scoop account anyway.

Probably not possible (none / 0) (#4)

Scoop has several dependencies and isn't set up like the traditional CGI script. Because of this, you probably won't be able to install it into a "standard" web hosting account, unless your host helps you out. In your case, I doubt this is possible, as you state that you don't have access to the Apache configuration.
