In my sig for my account on K5, I have links. This means, of course, that what I have to type to get my sig is longer than what actually appears. It seems that my sig gets chopped off at the end despite what appears being ony a few lines. The sig cutoff should be determined by what actually appears to readers, not what goes in the box.

It seems reasonable to not count HTML tags when determining the length of signature text, but one of the most important features with regard ot links is something slashcode has but scoop doesn't. That is the user preference option to display linkDomains, such that if the preference is chosen, the domain to which the link actually points is displayed for the user, so users aren't suprised by links to sites such as goatse.cx where they're represented to be links to other material.

...is limited by the database field.

Regardless of what is viewable, markup and linktext still take up space. I don't know much about mysql, but the varchar field i believe is limited to 256 characters, and changing the field to something else would be overkill for something that really isn't all that important.
