Is the new comment notifier broken?

After upgrading to 0.9 and 1.0 when a user comments on an article and returns to either the section listing or the index page, the comment they just made shows as a new, unread comment. Was that routine modified for .9 and 1.0? If so, why?

Since I'm seeing very few questions about something like this, it may be site specific (read operator error).

That bug is indeed real -- in my understanding it's been in scoop for a long time. It's in the list of bugs in the bug tracker, and will eventually be fixed.

in Comment.pm, rusty commented out the line

$S->update_seen_if_needed($sid) unless ($S->{UI}->{VARS}->{use_static_pages});

Uncommenting does not fix the issue but changing it to

$S->update_seen_if_needed($sid);

does fix it.
