Scoop Blocks need to be more open.

So here is my proposal. Let users view blocks, just make a standard op that displays all the blocks and/or boxes on a site.

In this way we can see how people did that neat stuff they did.

Html is open source because I can look at someone's page, and see how they made it, and I can incorporate their source into what I need to do.

But with scoop, the blocks and boxes are hidden from view. I know there is the Box exchange, but that is voluntary, and not representative of the large number of people that use the program.

I was just mentioning this the other day. (none / 0) (#1)

Except my idea was a bit different. I want an expanded SBE; one with blocks and ops as well as boxes. Also I want this to be searchable and browsable.

What I don't like of your proposal is that people are forced to share their blocks and boxes. It would be much better if it is voluntary.

Anyways, I think overall your idea is a good one.

I'm not sure I see a reason to make it mandatory, since there's already a couple of good ways to share voluntarily. One positive result of the story though is that it reminded me to go share a box on the SBE. ;)

I get the impression that most people mostly use the standard boxes. The ones in the box exchange probably cover most of the box innovation.
