How about a version string? Feature Requests

Down near the scoop logo.

If bugs are found while testing the ads, for example, (not that there are any) then it'd be nice to know what version is running. What version does this master scoop site run?

Its just not listed in a box you can see :) I'll move it to the 'Whose online box' so you can all see it. Just so you know, scoop.kuro5hin.org runs the latest cvs release of scoop. The version string shows the time it was checked out.

Not sure that would be a great idea.... (none / 0) (#2)

While it is interesting from a interest perspective, it would be about the same sort of thing as having a banner on a service show what release and version of software is running on the site.

Yes, it is interesting, and yes it can be removed, but probably not something that you would want on by default?

Especially in the event that a specific release was known to have an issue or something like that, it might be better to make a malicious user have to figure out what version it was on their own...

Probably a cool thing to have, but not a cool thing to have by default in new installs...

George
