Our scoop site, Adequacy.org was taken down by a DOS attack just over a month after we went live. Ultimately we were forced to switch providers.
|
This was a frustrating experience for those involved, primarily because of the unresponsiveness of the isp. Despite all our best efforts we simply could not get them to block the traffic. The attack was very simple and the traffic was unspoofed, which made it very easy to block.
As the down time dragged on, we decided that we were tired of dealing with our current ISP and needed to find a new one. We've moved to temporary hosting courtesy of a friend, but that still leaves the question: How can we find a reasonably priced colocation provider that will be active and responsive in dealing with attacks like these?
