More on section perms... Feature Requests

Now that section perms are available, I thought of another one which would make one scoop setup I'm working on a lot easier: an auto_post permission

Basically, what I'm thinking is that for, say, a club site (which is exactly what I'm building) the club execs would be able to post club news in a club_news section without needing it to go through the voting process, but post normally and go through the voting process in any other section.

I poked through the code and I think I found where stuff is auto-posted if it's in the diary section (in AdminStories.pm), but I'm not very good with perl, I've never done databases or objects in perl, and I haven't figured out how permissions are handled by the code (otherwise I'd try to do this myself)

Sounds good. I'll look into it when I clean up the rest of the section permissions stuff today.

hmm... some thoughts (none / 0) (#2)

Ok, I've been thinking about how I would implement this for a little bit, and I've hit a small impasse. Well, not really a place I can't pass, but a question. Where would the stories auto-post to? It would be simplest to make it auto-post to front page or to section only, but then it would be of limited use. Maybe it could have 5 different choices altogether for post_story. They would be: hide, deny, allow, auto-post-section, auto-post-frontpage. That would cover all the bases, I think.

The thing I'm most worried about is complexity for the scoop administrator. Hmm. Anyway, let me know what you think. I like the 5 choices idea.
