The two obvious types would be most comments and most
hits/views. A third type would be something like
"most highly rated", which would be scored on some
combination of the article votes and comments moderation.
The problem is that anything that gets voted onto section
or front page will have about the same voting score
(whatever the threshold is). One could simply give
a weighting to the different vote types (front page,
section only, don't care, dump), but I have another
idea: take the weighted sum of front page and section
only, and divide it by the weighted sum of don't care
and dump. Thus, a story with a bunch of front page votes
and very few don't care or dump votes would get a very
high ratio, while a story that got past the threshold
with just section only votes, but also had a lot of dump
votes, would have a ratio of less than one.
Hmmmm, maybe there could also be a users hall of fame,
based on how their articles and comments were
voted/moderated.
