"Editorial" Polls Feature Requests

Editorials provide some feedback as to why stories are voted up or down, but more feedback could be obtained if scoop allowed for "editorial" polls (polls concerning the voting process, which would disappear once the story is accepted in the same way editorial comments currently disappear). The effect would be to provide more feedback to the author as well as to channel the voting process in a productive fashion -- i.e., focusing the voter on the rational reasons for voting as one does. See the poll for this submission as a stock example of the sort of poll I envision.

editorial posts? (4.00 / 2) (#1)
by hurstdog on Mon Jan 15, 2001 at 05:13:58 PM PST

Isn't this same thing accomplished between editorial posts and voting on the story itself? Most stories generate enough editorial comments for you to see why many people voted the way they did. IMHO this might just be another level of unneeded complexity....

If you're really that into it... (none / 0) (#7)

Couldn't the same thing be accomplished by using a diary entry (see K5) first with an editorial poll? Then the person would use the feedback from that poll to edit the article and then submit it to the queue.

ugly poll (4.00 / 1) (#8)
by Refrag on Thu Jan 18, 2001 at 10:29:43 AM PST

It's hideous to look at. Maybe if it were a standard editorial poll that came with every submission and was cleaner than the one you demo'ed. Here's my suggestion for the standard poll if your idea ever gets implemented.

What were your reasons for voting as you did?

+1, Content
 0, Uninterested
