Minimized Vote Tally

Due to some browsers choking on incredibly long SELECT form tags, I'd really like to see some way to either reduce or hide the long "Voted For/Voted Against/Don't Care" lists that appear after voting for a story.

My issue has been cropping up due to the normally terribly long "For/Against/Don't Care" form elements that appear on story pages after people vote for them. When there's something like 300-500 people having voted on a story, it tends to stall out my browser for a while, or sometimes just lock completely, normally when I've thrown it into the background. (Not that it's important, but I'm using IE 5 on Mac OS 9.)
Not only that, but I personally don't have much use for that information; it's nice to see the numbers for the voting, but the names really don't matter to me too much.
Would it be possible, as a user preference, to just have the numbers of the tallies printed as regular text instead? Or maybe just hide the numbers completely, for those people who want that?
I'm not sure if anyone else is having this issue, but it would make *me* happy. :) |
